The voyage of the 127th Edition of Durand Cup has come a long way and with the culmination of two semi-finals today. The second semi-final match was played in the evening between the Pune FC and Sporting Club de Goa with Pune FC qualifying for the finals with a score of 2-1.

The first semi-final match between Bangaluru Football Club and Salgaocar FC was played in the morning at Raia Sports Complex. As expected the stadium was overwhelmingly crowded with supporters of both the teams and spectators. From the beginning of the match tensions and anxieties prevailed as both the teams fought it out to stake a claim for a position in the finals. Incidentally Salgaocar FC has been the Durand champs thrice, while the Bangaluru FC is the current champion of I-League.

Bangalore FC, with the lessons learned from their last league matches, put in their best from the very beginning. Being Durand champions once, and with the advantage of playing on home turf, Salgaocar FC fought back with great zeal. No goals were scored during the entire duration of the match. Inevitably, it led to extra time which again resulted in no goals being scored. Eventually it was the penalty shoot out which produced a result favouring the local team Salgaocar FC. Finally, the first semi final match finished with a score of 5-4 in favour of Salgaocar FC which secured an entry into the finals.

The second semi-final match was played between the Pune FC and Sporting Club de Goa. Like the first semi-final match, the second semi final match also happened to be played by one local team, Sporting Club de Goa. In all the matches so far, the Sporting Club de Goa has been proving to be a potential aspirant of Durand Cup Championship this year with support from home crowd. On the other side, Pune FC has been a tough team for all the opponents and did not let any team to have an easy time during the entire tournament so far. During the second semi final knock out match played between these two equally potent teams, PUNE FC won the match with the score of 2-1 in itís favour.

The quarterfinal stage of the tournament which started on 29 Oct 14 was conducted on a league cum knock out basis. By the end of the league matches Bangaluru FC, Salgaocar FC, Pune FC and Sporting Club de Goa had topped in their respective pools and reached the semi final stage.

Now with the end of both the semi-finals it is clear that the final match of the 127th Edition of Durand Cup will be played between Salgaocar FC and Pune FC The final match is scheduled at 03:00 PM at Raia Sports Complex, Madgaon, Goa.
